Wet Work First-Jamaica Plain Project Reveal

wet-work-before-the-finish
It’s Reveal Day! We have been working on a home in Jamaica Plain. Often when we take on a project, we focus on one room at a time applying the “wet materials” such as joint compound and other products that require drying time before we apply the paint. However on this project, we were able to apply all of our “wet work” simultaneously. JP before 2 Rather than starting and completing one room at a time, we worked on the entire residence simultaneously. While the one-room-at-a-time works wonderfully, when we can tackle the entire home all at once, it is very efficient for our team. However, the down side of this process is that it requires a lot of patience for our painters who are naturally eager to start applying those velvety finish coats on trim and walls! The reward for that focused prep-work only phase is the days of uninterrupted finish painting and brushwork, on new perfectly smooth surfaces in a dust free environment.

On this particular project, after we did all of the prep work throughout the home, we enjoyed applying glorious color. Amy, our client, chose a contemporary and simplified color palette. It accentuates the vintage character of the home in a sophisticated and modern way. Old or antique homes with their own unique character are historical treasures. The woodwork and wall naturally show its past and often even the history of the neighborhood. It takes a lot of hard work to preserve and showcase these features of a home, but when those surfaces are properly prepped and well-painted, the home’s character seems to shift from just an old house to a house with a story to tell.JP after 2
We are very proud of our meticulous work on this Jamaica Plain home. Upon seeing the reveal, Amy said, “Everything is as expected and looks awesome! Israel and Mary Ellen did extraordinary work and I feel lucky to have had them on the job.”
